Well, I finally did it! I am starting my very own blog!!
This is one thing that I always said I would never do..the whole social networking thing.
I have no desire to do Facebook, and only joined Twitter as it was a requirement for one of the contests that I entered.
Soo...what finally prompted me to try my hand at blogging you ask? (Haha, if there's even anyone reading this, that is!!)
The answer is Collin Raye.
I was so in awe of his performance last nite, that this morning I immediately searched the net for a review. And...there...was...not...one!!! What!?!?!?!
So...this is my review...
I have always admired him as a singer and performer, from what I saw only on TV, and his cd's.
I've never seen him perform live, until last nite.
I'm not sure what I was really expecting...but I really thought that he was entitled to some attitude. I mean, here is a man who sang such beautiful songs, 'Love, Me'...'In This Life'...'The Time Machine'...and my personal favorite...'Many A Mile'.
He played in the Schooner Room, at the Halifax Casino.
From the minute he came onstage, until he left after he came back after a standing ovation...he was the most down to earth, funny, charming, performer I have ever had the privilege to see.
His vocals are so rich, and honest. When he sings, it's like he's holding his heart in his hands and extending it to each and every person in the audience.
You 'feel' his songs. There are many, many talented performers who I would love to see perform live, but Collin is one of a kind. He draws you in and makes you feel as if you are his friend.
There are very few who have this ability. I smiled..I cried..I took pictures and videos..
When the show was over, we had the opportunity for a 'Meet and Greet'....Hello!!
Again..when he came out to meet his fans, I was even more impressed by this man. I watched him interact with each person who came up to him, to get his autograph. He smiled, and took his time with each one. He seemed to genuinely enjoy meeting his fans. He gave everyone a hug, and posed for a picture with each one.
By the time it was my turn, the most I could get out was to thank him for sharing his talent with us, and for coming to Halifax. I probably sounded like a dweeb..but what can I say..this gal is shy, and that was the best I could do.
I did get my picture with him, and a big ole hug.
This man who is Collin Raye..is a man who enjoys his art..which is music.
You can see this while he is onstage, whether singing a ballad, a rocked out song, or playing guitar.
He enjoys meeting his fans, and talking to them, and listening to them.
He is truly thankful and humble for the success he's had, and still has. Maybe it has something to do with him being a good ole Southern boy, he does have his Southern charm going for him as well!
Thank you Collin for a wonderful performance! I have always been a fan, but I walked away last nite a much bigger fan, and your music truly touched me.
I will go to every one of your concerts that I am able to, and am one of your many loyal fans.
Thank you for being the singer, the performer, the man, the beautiful soul that you are.
Ready for another Collin concert...peace out...Cheryl
